Thailand Prep!
Wow! It has been so exciting prepping, planning, preparing, shopping. Feelings of excitement, nervousness, gratitude, overwhelmingness, and anxiousness have been going on. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to go with mom. She is a saint in every way.
So why Thailand??! We started this journey over a year ago talking about doing a humanitarian project and how much we both have wanted to do so. It seemed like an unrealistic dream, but the more we talked the more we thought was make this dream come true. Picking a place was kinda hard, yet interesting. We've never been out of the country so anywhere would be amazing. We first talked about Costa Rica, we've heard of how beautiful it is and would love to be involved in the Spanish culture. But then for some reason it didn't feel quite right. I had seen pictures of Thailand and friends had posted pictures of elephants and I have always been connected with animals, so I expressed an interest in Thailand and mom and I felt right about it. We have yet to know all the benefits that will come from Thailand and why that was the right place for us to go, but we're excited to see why Thailand called our names.
We decided we are going to only take backpacks, so we bought about eight backpacks and tried different sizes and kinds. We found the one and then kept our journey going and have been planning and prepping ever since We are going for three weeks and want to be as minimal as possible. Mom is going to Texas for about a month, so our goal is to be all packed and ready by July 18th when she leaves. She will be back the end of August and we will leave September 1st!
Buckwheat has been an awesome shopping buddy!
I walked into the thrift store to look for Linen/Cotton pants (that's one kind of material they recommend for the humidity in Thailand), I didn't want to leave Buckwheat in the stinking hot car, so I threw him in the backpack and headed in. The associate said that they are only supposed to allow service dogs, but he is so cute that it's okay today :) He didn't complain once!
Here we are beginning to put together some things and see what else we need. This happened Saturday, Monday morning mom drove down to Orem and we shopped to get more essentials.
I think that we are pretty set, we have ordered some outdoor pants to work in and a travel guide that we are waiting on, but other than that, we are pretty ready for September 1st! This is pretty unreal and already I don't know how to put my emotions and feelings into words, but will do my best for this journal! :)

Thanks for the sweet note and thanks so much for this blog site!!! Can't wait to keep in the loop. I am thrilled for you two and will be praying for you!!! <3
