Next chapter... Moving to Rome!
Welcome to my blog. I started this when my mom and I went to Thailand in 2017. I've changed the title and will continue to post on different experiences, connections, and cultures visited. Feel free to go back and read about Thailand. It was an adventure~
So toward the end of June, my boss called me and said that our company was going to for-go our Recreation Therapy department. We had one week to wrap things up and say our goodbyes. This was a shock and I went into focus and finish hard mode. I wanted to practice what I had been preaching to these clients for almost four years; be flexible, life doesn't always work out as planned, be open to new doors that open, etc... I had been feeling like a change was going to occur in my life, but I didn't think that meant losing my job. So we finished within the week and said bye to our co-workers, clients, and team that we had worked so hard to make. It was difficult and hard to process because it happened so quickly. When I got that call, I did feel peace, even though I had no idea of what was next.
One reason that I feel peace, is the relationships I made at work. We genuinely care about each other and I had wonderful mentors and so much love. I also have learned that I have a yearning for more, for myself. I don't think that I would have left my job unless I was really pushed too. Getting let go was definitely that push. Nervousness and excitement entered as I pondered "what's next?" I took the first week and just staycationed! I relaxed, went to the gym, hiked, time with family and friends, etc... Then I started to feel it more. "What is next?" "What is my purpose?" "What do I give my energy too?"
Four days after I got let go; I received a phone call from a sister that I work with in the Provo temple. She told me about an opportunity to go work in a new temple for 90 days. Her and her friend are going, and they were looking for another person to join. I reached out and asked some questions to some missionaries serving in the area. I counseled with my Bishop and Stake President and close friends and family. I instantly wanted to go, but wasn't sure if it was smart or how to make the logistics work.
Long story short; Heavenly Father knows the desires of our heart! He knows that I've wanted to serve him in a more committed way. Since I didn't serve a full time mission, I wasn't sure how this would be possible. He opened a door. I'm not sure what other doors will continue to open as I listen and follow His plan. I am excited to see though. I will do my best to trust that "all these experiences shall be for my good."
So Saturday, I will be moving to Rome, Italy for 90 days and working in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple. I am looking forward to being able to work multiple days a week in the temple, engulfing myself in a new culture, learning history and some Italian, and experiencing more of God's creations. I will do my best to post about my experiences at least weekly. This blog will be to keep my family and friends updated. Feel free to follow and if you need to get ahold of me you can text me or message me on WhatsApp or email me. kami.poll4@gmail.com
I am so excited for this next chapter. It's amazing what life brings and I am just very grateful for it. :)
