day 19- sept 19

Last day in Chiang Mai! We got some breakfast and went to the post office to send some things home. We thought that we'd send more of our gifts and souvenirs back through shipping, but after trying different boxes and having debates go through our head on what's going to work the best, we took the large bag back to our hostel to pack it up and take with us. We did some laundry which took a while (this was our first time using a dryer since being in Thailand), then we met up with Sarah (Canada) and her mother, Carol for lunch before we caught our flight to Lrabi. We went to a place called 'Lemongrass' and ordered Massaman curry, chicken satay,  and fried banana with fresh made coconut ice cream. Whew... divine!

It was so nice to spend time with those two, they are very down to earth and kind. We went to find a taxi to take us to the airport, one wouldn't leave us alone, so we flagged down a less aggressive Tuktuk. We love those tuktuks! On the way a truck almost backed into us, but we're safe and sound! We were able to get our tickets back to Bangkok for Friday, we followed up because when we ordered them online, they said to speak to costumer service. I guess our payment hadn't gone through, so we got them reordered. Thank goodness. The airport went really smooth, and so did the flight. No snacks or water on this one. AsiaAir... Noted for future!

After we got our baggage, we found a taxi to take us to our hostel. Nice guy, very little English. Our hostel is super cute and the hostess is very kind. We are a five minute walk to the beach. We dropped off our stuff and walked down to the beach so that we could find some chow. There were many restaurants, we found one and sat down. We ordered bruschetta for an appetizer, fried rice in a pineapple for dinner, and mango and sticky rice for dessert. Delicious!! As our meal went on, we were able to just watch the tide go in and out. We realized that it was coming in closer and closer to us, by the end of our meal, it was about 5 feet from us. It was super awesome. We are going out tomorrow with Petch, and we wanted to get a swim suit for down here. We went walking along the roads, many restaurants and massage parlors. Not thinking we would find swim suits, mom noticed a small shop and sure enough, swim suits. And modest swim suits! Fancy that! No one could be seen in this shop except for a 5 year old boy and his cat. After trying the suits in over our clothes since we couldn't find a dressing room, We hollered around, talked to a couple of people who didn't talk back in the same language, then two young women entered and were able to help us out. We both are satisfied with our suits. We realized that we didn't have enough baht(cash) on us, so we asked where a nearby ATM was, one of the women said, "you ride on my motor bike with me and I take you there" it was super fun, we totally want to rent one in the next day or two. After getting back to the hostel, mom realized she didn't have her reading glasses, so she walked back up to the swim suit store, past many restaurants that asked if we wanted food the first time we walked by, then they said hi and 'see you tomorrow' as she walked by. We met our hostel roomies from Paraguay and chilled until going to sleep. Big day tomorrow!!
